Carlsson Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Fresher and more youthful, elegant, dynamic, and more powerful; this is how Mercedes-Benz visualises its revised E-Class saloon range. Now Carlsson, one of the foremost Mercedes-Benz and smart tuners, debuts their exclusive personalisation programme for the face-lifted E-Class, consisting of exterior and interior modifications, alloy wheels and performance enhancements.

For vehicles with the factory sport grille, Carlsson offers their stylised prancing horse logo in chrome as the radiator emblem. The elegantly shaped front spoiler with matching RS spoiler lip gives the car a more dynamic face, while the more contoured side skirts underpin its distinctive side profile. At the rear, the new apron, incorporating Carlsson's RS style diffuser, emphasises the sporty ambitions of the E-Class that are further accentuated by the boot lid spoiler. The rear apron and rear spoiler are designed to allow a two-tone paint finish if required, for even more bespoke personalisation. The rear apron also features cut-outs for the Carlsson sport exhaust system's two pairs of 105 x 70mm oval outlets. This sonorous exhaust for petrol-engine variants features the Carlsson logo stamped into its polished tailpipes. A sport exhaust system for diesel-powered vehicles is available on request.

The comprehensive aerodynamic styling programme applies to all variants without the AMG sports package, while the rear spoiler fits all versions of the E-Class saloon. All aerodynamic components are manufactured from high quality polyurethane plastics to OE standards of fit and finish.

The range of Carlsson alloy wheels for the E-Class starts with the 1/10 design, and is available as the Graphite Edition in 19 and 20-inch diameter, and in the Brilliant or Titanium Edition in 18, 19 and 20-inch diameter. The 1/16 RS wheel design comes as the Diamond or Titanium Edition in 18, 19 and 20-inch diameters, with the Brilliant Edition available in 18 and 19-inch sizes.

To make the most of the wider rubber, Carlsson offers solutions for both the steel and air suspension options. A set of uprated springs that works with the stock dampers, and drops the ride height by 30mm is the basic offering for steel sprung models.

For those who want even better handling a fully adjustable coil-over suspension kit facilitates a ride height reduction of between 15 and 35mm in front, with a commensurate 20mm drop at the rear.  E-Class models equipped with the Airmatic suspension benefit from the Carlsson C-Tronic Air-4 module that electronically lowers the static ride height by about 30mm. As a further option, the C-Tronic suspension CS Wi-fi system allows remote user control over the cars ride height via iPhone or iPad.

To underpin the visual enhancements with performance upgrades, the Carlsson engineers developed performance kits for the diesel and petrol engine range.

The CK40 performance kit increases the 245 kW/333 hp output of the twin-turbo V6-powered E400 to 283 kW/385 hp, simultaneously raising maximum torque from 480 Nm to 550 Nm. The 250 km/h top speed limiter is removed, allowing a 280 km/h Vmax. These performance gains come from an ECU remap.

The CK50 performance kit for the twin-turbo V8-powered E500 uses a remapped ECU and free-flow sports air filter to produce 385 kW/523 hp, up from 300 kW/408 hp, along with an increase in torque from 600 Nm to 730 Nm. Top speed goes up from 250 km/h to 300 km/h.

For the diesel engines, Carlsson's innovative C-Tronic Diesel Power SW CD35, lifts the 195 kW/256 hp of the E350 CDI Bluetec to 228 kW/310 hp, with an increase in torque from 620 Nm to 700 Nm.

For the four-cylinder diesel engines in the E200 CGI and E250 CGI, the Carlsson C-Tronic CB 20-25 integrated electronics module plugs into the factory ECU via the supplied adapter.

The power of the 200 CGI is increased from 135 kW/184 hp to 155 kW/211 hp, with peak torque up from 270 Nm to 330 Nm. Boasting 170 kW/231hp and a maximum torque of 370 Nm, the Carlsson fettled 250 CGI sees a useful increase over the standard 150 kW/204 hp and 310 Nm.

A Carlsson intercooler kit is added to the power module to extract the optimum performance from the C-Tronic CB 20-25 S conversions. Thus equipped, the E200 CGI makes 165kW/220 hp along with as maximum torque of 360 Nm. Thus modified, the 250 CGI motor makes 176 kW/239 hp, along with 400 Nm of torque.

Carlsson will help you to create your own unique atmosphere in the cabin, using the finest materials from their in-house upholstery shop. After a complete re-trim in the finest leather and Alcantara, with wood, carbon-fibre or aluminium inlays in either off-the-peg or bespoke hues, the interior can then be given the finishing touch with Carlsson illuminated sill plates, aluminium pedals and footrest, floor mats and alloy door lock pins.
