Mitsubishi Endeavor

The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor provides the perfect package of style, performance and utility. A defining model in the midsize crossover segment, the Endeavor combines all the best qualities of a SUV with the driving characteristics and handling of a passenger car.

The Endeavor does away with trade-offs by providing an abundance of space, the agility of a car and performance that easily meets the demands placed on an off-road vehicle. And new for 2007 is highly competitive pricing that will reduce the cost of the Endeavor – depending on model – by as much as $1,100 when compared with 2006MY.

The 2007 Endeavor lineup offers three distinct model variations: An affordable front wheel drive (2WD) Special Edition (SE), an equally attractive SE all-wheel drive (AWD) and the top-of-the-line, feature-packed LIMITED, which also features AWD.

New Pricing and Features For 2007

Improved safety features, updated styling, greater comfort and even more convenience are all addressed in the new 2007 Endeavor.

The Endeavor benefits from continual improvements, and this year the trim levels have been simplified. In all, the Endeavor trim levels have been streamlined from seven to three distinct offerings, with significant price reductions to boot.

The Endeavor SE 2WD will sell for $35,998, for a price reduction of $1,000 against its comparable 2006 model. The Endeavor SE 2WD also features new body-colour door handles and mirrors, new interior colours and fabrics (brown and black), new front and rear interior door trim, the 360W Rockford Acoustic Design Premium Audio System, new anti-theft alarm and new front and rear side curtain airbags.

The Endeavor SE AWD will sell for $38,998, for a price reduction of $1,000 against its comparable 2006 model. The Endeavor SE AWD adds new active skid and traction control to the features found on the SE 2WD.

The Endeavor LTD AWD will sell for $42,998, for a price reduction of $1,100 against its comparable 2006 model. The Endeavor LTD AWD adds a new touch-screen navigation system over and above the SE AWD features. In addition, the LTD is now available in one fully-equipped trim, with standard leather package and auto air conditioning.

"The new 2007 Endeavor tolerates no compromise," said Larry Futers, Director of Marketing, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc. "It's a state-of-the-art blend of style, roominess, performance and value delivered in a comprehensive package that speaks to utility and drivability."

Safety On and Off Road

Standard safety features on every Endeavor will satisfy the most discriminating SUV buyer. A tire pressure monitoring system alerts Endeavor drivers when tire pressure is low, which may help slow tire wear, and reduce the potential for a blowout. Other features include advanced Dual Stage front air bags and front seat mounted side impact air bags plus a full size spare wheel and tire with a towing prep package. New for 2007 is the addition of front and rear side curtain airbags, standard on all trim levels of Endeavor. All five seating positions have 3 point safety belts. Front seats have height adjustable shoulder anchors plus pretentioners and force limiters for the front belts.

Function Working With Form

A well engineered crossover SUV needs to offer its owner a level of function and capability that far exceeds that of a car, and the 2007 Endeavor excels in this capacity. Large doors and ideal ride height facilitate easy entry and exit of five adult passengers. And the roomy interior provides sufficient rear legroom to transport all in comfort. Driver and passenger view the road from an elevated position, sitting on wide, comfortable front seats. The rear suspension is low enough to allow a large, broad, and flat cargo floor that facilitates loading and unloading. The easy to operate tailgate swings upward high enough to clear taller heads and reveals a cargo area that can accommodate a four foot wide sheet of plywood. In addition, the curved rear hatch glass can be opened without opening the rear tailgate, perfect for loading smaller items. Functional roof rails are standard equipment and the LTD roof rack includes cross members that facilitate the mounting of accessories. Endeavor also features an integrated keyless remote, with a panic button for greater convenience.

Drivetrain

Every Endeavor is powered by a responsive 3.8 litre, SOHC, 24 valve V6 engine that provides brisk acceleration, efficient fuel economy and exceptional drivability. This proven engine produces 225 hp at 5000 rpm and peak torque of 255 lb ft at 3750 rpm, which propels the Endeavor from zero to 100 km/hr in under 10 seconds. All Endeavors feature a 4 speed Sportronic™ automatic transmission that allows drivers to manually shift gears if desired. AWD models utilize a transfer case that combines a bevel gear centre differential with a viscous coupling, to achieve a 50/50 torque split between the front and rear wheels, which provides greatly improved traction and control in all driving conditions.

Suspension
Graceful yet precise handling is the result of a well engineered fully independent suspension that provides superior stability and ride quality. The front design uses MacPherson struts, with the addition of a large rigid cross member to help control torsional flexing. The rear utilizes a multi-link configuration with trailing arms and coil springs. Hydroformed cross members help to reduce flex and road noise. The power steering system is a rack and pinion design with car like responsiveness.

Other Features

The 2007 Endeavor includes all the expected amenities such as air conditioning, power accessories, AM/FM/CD audio system, MP3 playback capability and roomy centre console storage. Other standards include dual front air bags, front seat mounted side impact air bags, front and rear side curtain airbags, 60/40 rear seat, dual vanity mirrors and two accessory outlets. The Endeavor SE models are visually distinguished by 17-inch, 5-spoke cast aluminum wheels, while the LTD features 17-inch, 7-spoke cast aluminum wheels. Both SE models also feature one touch sunroof, Rockford Acoustic Design® 6 CD audio system with 9 speakers and steering wheel audio controls, colour centre information display, sports-wrapped steering wheel and alarm system.

The Endeavor LTD adds even more, including premium leather seats and leather-wrapped gear-shift, a power driver's seat, and auto A/C. with mid cabin controls.
