Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X Package

The Jeep® brand is introducing in Geneva the new Wrangler Rubicon X Package limited-edition model. Based on the Rubicon trim level - the most extreme and capable Wrangler for off-road driving - the new special series further highlights the unmatched level of freedom and technical skills of the legendary Rubicon as well as its ability to master the most extreme off-road trails in utmost safety.

All this and more without skimping on a more refined look that reveals that the desire for adventure can be transferred also into a urban environment, as the body-colour hard top - available for the first time on the Rubicon trim level - contributes to underline.

The new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X Package offers customers a full package that complements the comprehensive off-road equipment of the Rubicon with exclusive styling cues and functional features. Exterior appointments include a seven-slot Black grille with Black inserts, a dual-intake Power Dome hood and a deep-tint sunscreen glass that give Wrangler a more aggressive appearance.

17-inch aluminum wheels painted Black suggest the capability of mastering the most demanding routes and Mopar® rock rails contribute to convey upgraded functionality. Completing the exterior of the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X Package are the body-colour hard spare-tyre cover and the black fuel-filler door from Mopar.

Furthermore, to grant the freedom of the open air driving experience of a unique 4x4 convertible car that only the legendary Wrangler can deliver, and to add a more refined look to the Rubicon, the new special-edition model comes standard with a body-colour hard top, a feature that is offered for the first time on the Rubicon trim level. The new body-colour hard top is included in the standard Dual Top configuration that offers the possibility to have both the Sunrider® soft top and the three-piece modular Freedom Top® in one package.

The interior of the new special-edition model boasts striking Red or Black leather seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Heated front seats are offered as standard. Silver accents adorn the passenger grab handle and are also found on the vent rings, steering wheel spokes and door pulls. Mopar tread-pattern slush mats complete the interior appointment of the new special-edition model.

In order to offer the best in terms of comfort and infotainment on board, the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X Package comes standard with the UConnect multi-media infotainment and navigation system with 6.5-inch touchscreen, 40-gigabyte hard disk, USB compatibility, AUX port and DVD player, in addition to the voice-activated Bluetooth UConnect Phone.

Available as a two-door Wrangler or four-door Wrangler Unlimited, the new special-edition model will be introduced in Europe in the second quarter of 2014, with the 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine producing 200 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque and the 3.6-litre V-6 Pentastar petrol engine delivering 284 horsepower and 347 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Engineered to take on the most demanding trails, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon uses front and rear Dana 44 axles. Legendary Rubicon off-road capability is achieved through the Jeep part-time four-wheel-drive system that receives power through a Rock-Trac® NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio and Tru-Lock® electronic front- and rear-axle lockers. Tru-Lock front-and rear-locking differentials provide low-speed manoeuvring when climbing boulders and ascending steep inclines by evenly splitting torque between both wheels, forcing them to turn in unison for extra traction.

An additional exclusive feature of the Rubicon model is an electronic-disconnecting front stabilizer bar - called the Active Sway Bar System - which delivers additional wheel travel for traversing the toughest trails.
