Lancia Voyager S

Into this context comes the Lancia Voyager S, which will be available to purchase from January 2014 on all European markets. On the outside, the new version is characterised by the brand new glossy black chrome plated front grille, new 17" glossy black alloy wheels and the 'S' logo on the tailgate The same stylistic language is to be found on the inside too, characterised by black leather and fabric with grey stitching, the same as on the front door panels, gloss black trim on the dashboard and steering wheel inserts and the 'S' logo on the front seat backrests.

With the new S version, the Lancia Voyager confirms its position as the benchmark of the large MPV segment and the perfect expression of space shared between emotion and travel experience. Depending on the market, the range is made up of three trim levels (Silver, Gold and Platinum) and two engines: the new 178 HP 2.8L turbodiesel and the 283 HP 3.6L V6 Pentastar petrol engine.

All trim levels come with a wealth of standard equipment, including 17" alloy wheels and roof rails (black on the S trim level and chrome-plated on the Platinum trim level), while the passenger compartment features front and rear seats upholstered in top quality leather (which are heated and electrically adjustable on the S and Platinum trim levels). The steering wheel with audio controls and gear lever knob are also upholstered in leather.

The interior of the Voyager was designed to reflect a cosy and comfortable living room. It is both sturdy and flexible thanks to the Stow'n Go system  which comes as standard on the entire range. The system allows the second and third rows of seats to be stowed away inside the floor, providing a record capacity of 4100 litres. On the Platinum trim level, the third row seats can also be folded down using the electric controls.

Completing the standard equipment of the Lancia Voyager, depending on the trim level and the market, are more than 40 active and passive safety features (ESC, 6 airbags, cruise control, fog lights, automatic headlights, Blind Spot and Cross Path detection and active pedestrian protection). A recent addition to the wealth of standard equipment throughout the entire range is the electronic Trailer Sway Damping system, designed to detect sudden movements of the trailer and help to correct the situation. This innovative system means that the Lancia Voyager can now tow a caravan or trailer in total safety.

The Voyager is also rich in content which ensures optimum on-board comfort and travelling pleasure, including the automatic three-zone climate control system, electric seat and pedal adjustment, and the U-ConnectTM hands-free system with iPod/MP3 that integrates the navigation function and the rear camera for parking assistance. And last but certainly not least, the sophisticated ‘Dual DVD/Blue-Ray Entertainment System', is the exclusive extra option that includes a DVD/Blue-ray player with double 9" screen on roof for the second and third row passengers, two wireless headsets, remote control, and dual audio/video input for connecting external players.

The door mirrors (heated), the side doors (as standard on the S and Platinum) and the tailgate are also electrically adjustable.  The audio system with nine speakers, a subwoofer and up to 506 W of total power also comes as standard on the Platinum trim level.  Even when it comes to music performance, the Lancia Voyager has everything it takes to create all the thrills you want on your every journey.

Finally, the Lancia model is available with two engines that offer engineering and performance combined to deliver comfort beyond compare, to enhance your travelling experience even further: the powerful 283 HP Pentastar V6 3.6 petrol and the brilliant 2.8 turbodiesel in the new 178 HP version. Both engines are combined as standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission with torque converter that offers closer spacing between the gears, limiting engine speed changes between the different transmission ratios and guaranteeing smoother engagements suited to all driving situations.

Specifically, the new 2.8 turbodiesel common-rail 178 HP engine (131 kW) is distinguished by a particularly favourable fuel supply system due to the maximum torque of 360 Nm available over a very extensive operating range (from 1400 to 3400 rpm), offering greater flexibility and responsiveness in any driving conditions. The four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshaft with belt control is equipped with a high pressure 1800 bar common rail injection system with piezoelectric injectors and a variable geometry turbocharger.

Other features of the new Lancia Voyager's 178 HP 2.8 turbodiesel engine include the new intake manifold made of composite material with electronic turbulence control, an EGR exhaust gas recirculation system, reduced friction O-rings, oil and exhaust gas temperature sensors, diesel particulate filter (DPF) and further adjustments to reduce noise, vibrations and rigidity (NVH) and to guarantee improved driving comfort. The Lancia Voyager 178 HP 2.8 turbodiesel reaches 193 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds. Its fuel consumption on the type-approved combined cycle is 7.9 l/100 km while CO2 emissions are 207 g/km.

On display in Frankfurt will be a Lancia Voyager S – with ‘Billet Silver' livery and black leather/fabric upholstery with S logo on the front seat backrests – and a Lancia Voyager Platinum in the distinctive ‘Maximum Steel' colour option, with an elegant black leather and Alcantara interior. Both vehicles are equipped with the new 2.8 turbodiesel common-rail 178 HP (131 kW) engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
