Volkswagen Golf Match

Volkswagen is ensuring that the award-winning Golf hatchback remains a hot seller with the introduction of the new Golf Match, which comes out of the box with even more specification than the SE model it replaces at no extra cost. That means that customers get behind the wheel of the Golf Match 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS BlueMotion Technology six-speed manual three-door model from just £19,680 (OTR RRP).

The Golf SE was already one of the most comprehensively well-specified vehicles in its class, and the new Match adds even more features that customers are sure to value, including front and rear parking sensors, front fog lights and a mirror pack, which consists of automatically-folding door mirrors with puddle lights and reverse-activated dipping on the nearside.

New 16-inch ‘Dover' alloys distinguish the Match. All Golf models come with seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag; ABS with ESC, XDS electronic differential lock; an automatic post-collision braking system and Isofix preparation for two rear child seats. The entry-level Composition Media system includes a 5.8-inch colour touchscreen, DAB digital radio, a CD player, MDI interface with 30-pin and Lightning connectors, Bluetooth telephone preparation and audio streaming and eight speakers. Also standard is air conditioning, a Stop/Start system along with battery regeneration, and a host of other features.

The GT model comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, lowered sports suspension, ‘Cherry Red' rear light clusters and heat-insulating dark-tinted rear glass.

Inside are gloss black dash and door inserts, Alcantara and cloth sports seats, LED reading lights, ambient lighting and the Discover Navigation media and navigation system with 5.8-inch colour touchscreen. Options include high beam assist, park assist, DCC dynamic chassis control, a rear-view camera, Discover Pro navigation system with eight-inch colour touchscreen, keyless entry and a panoramic sunroof.

The Golf Match is available with a 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS engine with either six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearboxes returning 54.3 to 56.5 mpg combined; a 1.6-litre TDI 105 PS engine with five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox returning 72.4 to 74.3 mpg; and a 2.0-litre TDI 150 PS with six-speed manual or six-speed DSG gearbox returning 62.8 to 68.9 mpg.
