Infiniti I35

For 2004, the Infiniti I35 increases its impact on the mid-size luxury class with the addition of several standard luxury features including sunroof, power rear sunshade, side sills and pre-wiring for satellite radio. Also for 2004, the I35 receives a new exterior color – Desert Platinum. Remaining unchanged is the I35's unmatched combination of refined luxury and exceptional performance.

"The I35 is a significant component of the Infiniti lineup," said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division. "The combination of luxury and performance that come together in the I35 gives buyers the best of both worlds – an enjoyable driving experience and a refined interior."

Superior Performance

A 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 again provides the I35 with refined performance. The highly acclaimed engine, producing 255 horsepower and 246 lb-ft of torque, is part of the VQ engine series that has won praise as one of the "Ten Best Engines" from Ward's Auto World magazine for nine consecutive years. The engine's advanced design includes continuous variable timing control, a silent timing chain and electronically controlled throttle.

Adding to the I35's tremendous driving experience is an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission, engine speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion steering and Traction Control System (TCS). The 2004 I35 is equipped with a strut and coil spring front and rear Multi-Link Beam™ suspension and large diameter front and rear stabilizer bars. A sport-tuned suspension is available with the Cold Weather Package.

Braking is provided by power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes with a standard 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The braking system also includes Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), both of which enhance braking performance in hard or panic braking situations.

Other features of the V6 engine include molybdenum coated lightweight pistons, microfinished crank journals and cam lobes, Nissan Variable Induction System (NVIS), digital knock control, six individual coils (one per spark plug) and double platinum-tipped spark plugs with a 100,000 mile tune-up interval.

An Exterior to Match

The 2004 I35 has the looks to go with its impressive performance. Starting from the grille, the I35 exudes style with High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon low beam headlights with titanium bezel treatment, fog lights and cornering lights. The I35 profile gives off a fast, sporty appearance with new standard side sill spoilers, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and H-rated all-season tires. Rounding off the 2004 I35 exterior is a smoothly styled trunk lid design, jewel-like combination lamps and a straight exhaust tail pipe with dual bright finishers. A new exterior color is offered in 2004 – Desert Platinum (replacing Millennium Jade).

A Luxurious Interior

For 2004, the Infiniti I35 adds several standard features to its already luxurious interior. Now standard on all I35 vehicles are a sunroof, power rear sunshade and satellite radio pre-wiring (with choice of XM or Sirius).

A Cold Weather Package is available, which features heated front and rear seats with "high" and "low" settings, heated outside mirrors and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Other standard comfort and convenience features include front power windows with one-touch auto-up/down, speed sensitive audio volume control, automatic temperature control, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, expanded wood-tone accents on the center console, a trip computer in the meter cluster and capping off the extravagant interior is Infiniti's signature analog clock. Three interior colors are available – Willow, Graphite and Beige.

Optional on the 2004 I35 is the Infiniti Navigation System with a power-operated dash-mounted flip-up 5.8-inch information display. The system features Infiniti's unique three-dimensional Birdview™ map display and a voice guidance system.

Safety and Security

Standard safety features for the 2004 I35 include dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors and front-seat side-impact supplemental air bags, 3-point ALR/ELR seat belts (driver's side ELR only) and front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters and adjustable upper anchors. Also included are standard front-seat active head restraints to help reduce neck injuries that may occur in center rear end collisions.

Additionally, I35 is equipped with the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tether for CHildren) system, as well as child safety rear door locks, an emergency inside trunk-release and a truck-mounted first aid kit.

Also standard is the Vehicle Security System with Infiniti Immobilizer, which uses an electronically coded key recognized by the ignition system.
